The Program
The program includes Individual Level Intervention (ILI), Group level Intervention (GLI ), and Public Information (PI) health awareness and social-skills training interventions aimed at reducing HIV sexual risk behavior among Oromos and other Ethiopians at high risk. It consists educational and training sessions delivered by qualified health educator and peer facilitators in a community-based setting.
The sessions are gender specific and linguistically and culturally relevant and include behavioral skills practice, group discussions, lectures, information on local radio, TV, and newspapers, as well as distribution of information brochures and fliers.
HIV/AIDS/He information delivered through the various media outlets, through word of mouth during social or community events will enable us inform community members about the program and recruit participants for ILI and GLI programs. The sessions that generate these discussions and activities are: Assessment of HIV/AIDS/STD awareness and risk behaviors, HIV/AIDS/He Education and Protective skills training, adopting and maintaining Healthy Behavior.
